About Us

STEPS TO YOUR
DREAMSwas transformed from a dream to reality in 2008 as a non-profit organization by a group of inspired
licensed therapists, led by Amanda Shearer’s vision to give back to the
communities.
After two years of planning we had the opportunity to research the
benefits in hippotherapy for disabled individuals. Our team then decided to establish a rewarding resource for
Clark and the surrounding counties.
We
were
created to offer financial, physical, and spiritual assistance to the underserved families and the lives of individuals with disabilities of all ages, throughout our
communities.
Our foundation will deliver the opportunity to participate in therapeutic and healing sessions by
utilizing horses. We will extend our services to individuals with terminal illnesses as well as the community to
cultivate an escape from the everyday challenges in life through a serene and tranquil environment.
WHAT WE
DO
STEPS
TO YOUR DREAMS provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to
individuals with disabilities by using horses as our treatment intervention. Currently, Steps To Your Dreams is offering their Transitional Therapy Program, which allows for the individual to become prepared for
the next phase, Hippotherapy. With specialized training in the principles of hippotherapy, Alpha and Omega
Staffing Solutions, Inc will devote comprehensive treatments to individuals by using licensed and experienced
therapists.
Hippotherapy is physical, occupational, or speech
and language therapy treatment strategy that utilizes equine movement. The client is positioned on the horse
and actively responds to the movement. The therapist directs the movement of the horse; analyzes the clients
responses; and adjusts the treatment accordingly. This strategy is used as part of an integrated treatment
program to achieve functional outcomes.
In addition, our
foundation offers family support
groups and believes that they are extremely beneficial to not only the
children, but also to those that love them. We believe that when a child lives with a disability or terminal
illness, the entire family struggles with the strain of daily life. With this in mind, we would like to bring our
families together to support and encourage one another through any difficulties they may
face.
